Aspartate dehydrogenase, NAD biosynthesis, archaeal <p> This entry represents L-aspartate dehydrogenase, as shown for the NADP-dependent enzyme TM_1643 of <taxon tax_id="2336">Thermotoga maritima</taxon>. Members lack homology to NadB, the aspartate oxidase (<db_xref db="EC" dbkey="1.4.3.16"/>) of most mesophilic bacteria (described by <db_xref db="INTERPRO" dbkey="IPR005288"/>), which this enzyme replaces in the generation of oxaloacetate from aspartate for the NAD biosynthetic pathway. All members of the seed alignment are found adjacent to other genes of NAD biosynthesis, although other uses of L-aspartate dehydrogenase may occur. </p>
